Long COVID is when someone still feels unwell twelve weeks after they no longer test positive for COVID.

Some symptoms of Long COVID are:

  • Feeling very tired
  • A new muscle or joint pain
  • Problems with breathing, for example, increased breathlessness on an activity or an ongoing cough
  • Chest tightness and/or palpitations
  • Brain fog
  • Loss of taste and/or smell

If you think you may be experiencing Long COVID you should contact your GP and request an appointment to discuss what tests you should have.

If you still experience Long COVID symptoms after 12 weeks, speak to your GP about a referral to the Sheffield Long Covid Rehabilitation Hub.

Symptoms and recovery time can vary in different people. It is important not to compare yourself to others.

Please call 111 if you need urgent medical advice and call 999 if it is an emergency.
