Learning Through Nature does exactly what it says on the tin!

It is about allowing young people to step into nature and learn from the environment around us, whilst familiarising them with the outdoors.

The project is aimed at young people with special educational needs who do not frequent parks and other National Trust sites. We have worked with schools such as Talbot Specialist School and Bents Green School to support their students in accessing the programme. We are able to offer the programme at no cost to the young people or the school. We arrange the food, transport, sessions, and everything else. Workshops include plant identification, animal identification, photography, and art.

How can I get involved?

If you are a volunteer, school or alternative education provider who would like to get involved, get in touch with Matthew Brewer at [email protected] or call 01142999210.

Success so far...

The project has previously received very positive feedback from all the young people who took part, as well as the schools we engaged with. They saw their students come out more positive, use their creative skills, and more willing to visit public spaces such as parks and other sites.

This project wouldn't be possible without the support of our funders, the People's Postcode Lottery. Find out more about their work.
